A Mysterious ‘Bottomless Pit’ that is claimed to have magical powers

A radio listener is well-aware of the glut of programs that are especially dedicated to the conspiratorial and paranormal talks. People love to listen to such theories but rarely any story takes off as much as the story told by a man named Mel Waters did.

Mel was a character who’d call into late-night radio shows. His radio shows were dedicated to spooky and paranormal stuff going around the world. One night, he told a story that was so spooky that even after two decades, people still are searching for the answers today.

One night in 1997, Mel called in to a late-night AM show named Coast to Coast. The show covered everything from paranormal to conspiratorial stories. Mel had a perfect story for his listeners that night.

Mel claimed that he once owned a property nine miles west of a town called Ellensburg where he found something that no one can believe. There was a hole in the property that plunged 80,000 feet into the earth. This was reportedly the deepest hole on the planet. The more interesting fact is that the hole was not a normal hole. According to the rumours, there was mysterious black beam shot out of the hole into the sky many times.

A local resident’s dog passed away one day. The man threw the body of his beloved dog in the hole. After a few days, the man saw his dog with same collar and same fur pattern around the hole. The man swore on his sightings. What was in the hole which resurrected the dog?

Listeners denied to believe the story of Mel but still there were some people who used to feel something interesting in the whole matter. Mel’s Hole was taken from Mel Waters after the government paid him off for the property.

Mel received a call from Red Elk, a local resident who confessed that he, too, had known the Mel’s Hole since his father showed him in 1961. The matter was becoming even stranger.

Red Elk confessed that there are people living down there. These are alien people who have come from a desert planet. He claimed that these aliens have living in that hole long before the existence of man. It seemed like he was supporting the Hollow Earth theory.

The strangest thing about the case is still to be discovered. Red Elk started his investigation to find out the truth of Mel’s Hole. He led the expedition of 30 people but none of them was able to find anything. A YouTuber discovered from the satellite imagery available by the government that right where the hole should have been, were two enormous while squares. What?

The findings made the whole matter more interesting. People started linking the Mel’s Hole and the imagery findings with the UFO crafts as claimed by a local resident named Dan Turner.

The story of Mel’s Hole spread further and eventually many serious journalists started looking for the reality. Some of them sought contact with Mel Waters but they found that no one with that name had ever lived in Ellensburg. “It’s like a Holy Grail thing” Turner said jokingly. “If you find it, I guess maybe there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; maybe there’s demons that are gonna assault you in your sleep at night. I don’t know

To find out the truth, some film students started researching in 2017. Evan Catlin, Tyler Templeton and Cory Henderson brought their filming equipment to the coordinates taken from the satellite imagery expecting that they will find anything but then,

They actually found an unending pit. Was this Mel’s Hole? “On every single side, you can’t see the bottom. Anywhere you go, you can’t see it” Evan said. But was it really 80,000 feet deep? To test the depth, Evan threw a rock inside and waited for the sound of it hitting bottom. After a lot of wait, he didn’t heard anything so he threw another rock but still nothing.

They returned with ropes, a GoPro and other equipment. They lowered the camera in the hole as much as they could but eventually, the rope ended. Soon, they were chased away by the property owners but had they captured anything on the camera?

Well not exactly. However, the hole did, at the very least, look a bit endless. What was behind the whole legend? Was there any reality behind the black beam, aliens or the dead dog? Without the existence of Mel, there is no way to answer those questions.

Many questions are still unsolved about Mel’s Hole. How can a normal AM radio show create such a widespread legend? Who was Mel? What is the actual story?

The hole turned out to be an old mining shaft! Still, what about all the legends of Mel’s Hole? It’s unlikely for anyone to find the magical pit hiding aliens. The actual truth is yet to be revealed.

Mel’s Hole is an interesting local legend. After those film students, no one has ever tried to stumble over the hole but the mystery still remains unresolved.
